Ubisoft announced today that the new Ghost Recon game -- previously known as Ghost Recon 4 -- has a name and is due out during the Holiday 2010 season. "Future Soldier" makes more sense than "Advanced Warfighter," doesn't it?
Ghost Recon 4 is now officially Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Also, it's coming out for the Holiday 2010 season.
A press release sent out this morning announced that the game is in development at Ubisoft's Paris studio under the same team that worked on both Advanced Warfighter games. Details are scarce about Future Soldier's plot or gameplay, but the release touts "state-of-the-art" singleplayer and multiplayer modes.
Here's more from the press release:
The game will feature cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience, with an unparalleled level of quality that will excite long-time fans and newcomers alike.
You can try out the multiplayer beta this summer. Look for invites in copies of Splinter Cell: Conviction "for a limited time."
UPDATE: Ubisoft earnings call, the company confirmed that Ghost Recon is also coming to the Wii -- although it will be a "different product" than Future Soldier on other consoles.
