Google TV coming with Ice Cream OS?

What Would Google Do?Google’s (GOOG) facing a good deal of criticism for not releasing the source code for Android Honeycomb 3.0 just yet, as developers and publishers anxiously await access to the operating system. Some reports indicate that Honeycomb needs a bit more work before it’s ready for public access, namely Google TV integration. The next OS update, Ice Cream, will combine the Honeycomb and Gingerbread versions, and may include Google TV, supporting apps for set top boxes, HDTVs and tablets.
The integration would be important for Google TV’s development, which has yet to fully compete with existing cable offerings, and still faces Apple TV (AAPL) as a major rival. The added input of consumer-driven apps could justify Google TV a great deal, especially once Google smooths out its Android platform across devices.

Android’s OS fragmentation is an ongoing issue for Google to overcome, with its open source approach also leaving millions of consumers vulnerable to malware and security concerns. Google’s made steps towards cracking down on these vulnerabilities, merely prompting more security companies to release apps and app upgrades for Android devices.
It’s pretty easy to avoid most malware attacks if you use consumer smarts, most of which have been drilled into our experiences on PCs. But Webroot Security has recently launched a new security app for Android, called Webroot Mobile Security, which can scan for viruses, view reports and experience secure web browsing. The app can protect your device if lost or stolen, and even blocks calls and incoming texts from scammers, spammers and stalkers.
